We’re just a little over a week away from the official unveil of HTC’s next generation flagship: the One M9. The smartphone will be unveiled in Barcelona, Spain at the Mobile World Congress, but that isn’t stopping new renders of the One M9 in its final form from leaking to the Internet. German Retailer CyberPort posted press renders of the One M9 in a few different color combinations including gunmetal grey and gold/silver. Not surprisingly, the renders match up nicely with leaked photos that we’ve already seen of the One M9. For better or worse, the One M9 isn’t a drastic departure from the current... Read more...
The 2015 Mobile World Congress is set to kick off in Barcelona, Spain on March 2. However, invitations that HTC sent out today confirm that we’ll actually catch our first glimpse of its next generation flagship smartphone a day early on March 1. In true teaser fashion, HTC isn’t revealing any new details about the device and simply states that “utopia is in progress.” However, thanks to ongoing leaks, we have at least a general idea of what HTC plans to launch in early March. For those of you rocking HTC's One M8 Developer Edition smartphone, be on the lookout for an Android 4.4.3 KitKit upgrade containing the company's custom Sense 6 User Interface (UI). After being teased in a Twitter post midway through July, HTC more recently tweeted an update confirming that the ROM has begun rolling out over the air (OTA). A related update for standard One M8 handsets shouldn't be too far behind. And in both cases, this is probably the last KitKit update before Android L strolls into view, as HTC plucked all the security updates from Android 4.4.4 and put it into the Android 4.4.3... HTC has clearly been putting in considerable effort into its products' industrial design. For years, the company has churned out some of the most appealing flagship devices, running both Android as well as Windows Phone. As of late, the Taiwanese outfit has been struggling to turn a profit, and that’s despite a robust, well-received lineup of phones. In many ways, the new HTC One (known internally as the M8, signifying a followup to last year’s One M7) is a make-it-or-break-it device. The new HTC One M8 is, in many ways, a phone that pulls out all of the stops. It’s a creation... Read more...
