MSI claims that it is now shipping the “World’s Most Powerful Gaming All-In-One PC” and we must admit, it does pack quite a punch. MSI’s Gaming 27T, as it names implies, features a 27-inch display. But unlike some all-in-ones released in the past few months, the 27T doesn’t feature a 4K display. Instead, the all-in-one ships with a Full HD (1920x1080) resolution anti-glare display. Powering the machine is a Skylake-based Intel Core i7-6700 processor which has a base clock of 3.4GHz and Turbo Boosts up to 4GHz. You’ll find a healthy 16GB of RAM standard along with an incredibly potent NVIDIA GeForce... Read more...
NVIDIA may be a graphics powerhouse when it comes to add-in boards for desktops and integrated graphics for notebooks, but the company isn’t putting all of its eggs into one basket. It also tiptoes into supercomputing efforts, automotive technology (the company’s Tegra X1 powers the 2016 Audi TT’s “virtual cockpit” gauge cluster), and even SoCs for mobile devices. NVIDIA is expanding its reach into new markets with Jetson TX1, a new platform that has a footprint smaller than a credit card and is destined for autonomous devices. Aerial drone leader DJI was already moving down this past using NVIDIA... Read more...
It seems as though the entire gaming world is ready for tomorrow’s release of Fallout 4. Earlier today, we learned that both GameStop and Best Buy are tossing in a free copy of Fallout 4 with the purchase of a new PlayStation 4 console. And a week ago, we learned of a killer Black Friday deal from Dell that will include an Xbox One Gears of War console bundle, an extra controller and a copy of Fallout 4 for the low, low price of $299. And now the folks at NVIDIA are looking out for Fallout fans on the PC side with a fresh GeForce Game Ready Driver that’s optimized for Fallout 4. The new driver,... Read more...
Graphics chip maker NVIDIA announced record revenue of $1.305 billion for the third quarter ended October 25, 2015, up 7 percent from $1.225 billion in the same quarter a year ago, besting estimates by Wall Street analysts. That figure also represents a 13 percent boost from the $1.153 billion NVIDIA generated in the previous quarter "Our record revenue highlights NVIDIA's position at the center of forces that are reshaping our industry," said Jen-Hsun Huang, co-founder and chief executive officer, NVIDIA. "Virtual reality, deep learning, cloud computing and autonomous driving are developing with... Read more...
When it comes to new graphics cards, we're used to talking about things like frame rates and gaming performance at different resolutions. You might think a new dual GPU offering from NVIDIA would elicit similar commentary, but that isn't the case with the NVS 810, a Maxwell-based graphics card with an impressive feature-set for a totally different market. NVIDIA's taking aim at the digital signage market, and while that might sound like a snoozer on the surface, there's some impressive technology here. This thing is rocking two GM107 GPUs, each with 512 CUDA cores and 2GB of RAM (for a total of... Read more...
It's a great time to be a gamer, don't you think? Gamers have access to all kinds of awesome technologies, things like 4K displays, blazing fast graphics cards, and G-Sync for smoother game play. There's also a whole bunch of big budget titles in the pipeline this holiday season, and if you're rocking an NVIDIA graphics card, the GPU makers says it will have your back with Game Ready drivers for each and every one of them. "We introduced our Game Ready drivers program two years ago. Rather than release drivers according to arbitrary timetables, our timelines for drivers are in lockstep with major... Read more...
The last time we visited Acer’s Predator family, the company unleashed the X34 with a 34-inch ultra-wide curved display, 100Hz refresh rate and NVIDIA G-SYNC technology. Acer is back at it with two more gaming monitors, both of which feature 27-inch displays and are members of the Predator XB1 Series. First up is the Predator XB271HU, which includes a zero-frame, edge-to-edge design and a WQHD (2560x1440) IPS panel. Other features include 100 percent coverage of the sRGB color gamut, 4ms gray response times, and the ability to overclock the refresh rate up to 165Hz.Predator XB271HU The Predator... Read more...
Thanks to the emergence of NVIDIA’s G-SYNC, AMD’s FreeSync, i.e Adaptive Sync, 4K resolutions and various other display technologies, we’ve had the pleasure of evaluating a number of new monitors recently. One of our favorites from this past year was the ASUS ROG SWIFT PG278Q. Although it featured a resolution of “only” 2560x1440, and employed a TN panel, the monitor’s design language, support for G-SYNC, and ultra-fast (at the time) 144Hz peak refresh rate made it a real pleasure to use, especially for gaming. If you had asked us what we’d change on the ASUS ROG SWIFT PG278Q at the time, we would... Despite the fact that it couldn't be more obvious that Apple is going to be getting into the automotive market, the company remains quiet on the matter. Well, kind of. It seems like every week the company drops one major hint after major hint. Last week, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that the automotive market is in need of a "massive change", and a few months ago, it leaked out that he visited BMW's factory in Leipzig, Germany, to help become familiar with the intricacies of the industry. Now, there's even more fuel being poured on the fire. According to Re/code, Apple has just plucked a top AI expert... Read more...
Microsoft stunned the entire tech world when it unveiled the Surface Book earlier this month. What we originally thought was simply a sleek 13.5-inch notebook with a funky hinge was actually a 2-in-1 convertible with a detachable “tablet” screen. Microsoft also revealed that the Surface Book could be optioned with a discrete NVIDIA GeForce graphics chips that is housed within the keyboard base. Unfortunately, those looking for a cheap way to boost graphics performance were disappointed to learn that while the base Surface Book started at $1,499, the cheapest SKU with a dedicated GPU (dGPU) started... We talked just yesterday about the various configurations that exist for Microsoft's Surface Book, including the mammoth $3,199 model that boasts 1TB of solid-state storage. Despite all we know about these offerings, though, there are some details both Microsoft and its component vendors are keeping mum on. Such as the GPU model included. Well, thanks to a reddit user who spotted a Surface Book in store, and was able to get online and download some diagnostic tools, we now have that answered. Right off the bat, we can tell that this is not a very high-end GPU, and that's something I doubt anyone... Read more...
Good things are coming to NVIDIA's GeForce Experience utility over the course of the next few months, things like the ability to stream games at 4K from your PC to your television and enhanced broadcasting. Early adopters who don't mind running pre-release software can sample a taste of these things and more through a new beta that NVIDIA's doling out today. One of the benefits of owning a high end graphics card or, even better, two of them in SLI is the ability to crank up the resolution in games to 4K for a better visual experience with a bigger field of view. It just so happens that NVIDIA's... Read more...
We have a lot of respect for Jen-Hsun Huang, the fiery boss of NVIDIA who once famously told analysts that the GPU maker was going to "open a can of whoop ass" on Intel, which at the time was talking a big game about Nehalem and Larrabee. He's done some wonderful things at NVIDIA, the company he co-founded over two decades ago, and it's earning him props from Harvard. In a new study in the November issue of Harvard Business Review, Mr. Huang was named the 29th best-performing CEO in the world. That's high praise, especially coming from one of the most esteemed universities on the planet (Harvard... Read more...
