One of the world’s premiere PC mouse makers wants you to ditch your mouse. Logitech’s new Wireless All-in-One Keyboard TK820 has a built-in in touchpad that is meant to completely replace your mouse. Keyboard touchpads aren’t new, but the TK820's touchpad is more than a way to move your cursor: it also accepts up to 13 Windows 8 gestures – not to mention the zoom and swipe gestures that you’ve been using on tablets. The keyboard features Logitech’s PerfectStroke technology, which makes for even key depression, even if your finger catches only a portion of the... Read more...
Logitech is going for a certain look and feel with its Z600 Bluetooth stereo speakers, which is to say that it’s trying for a sleek, high-end-looking product that matches the luster of ultrabooks. (Especially MacBooks, it would seem.) The twin speakers are quite fetching, with graceful curves and a long, tall stance. They’re sort of an aluminum-white in color, with speaker grills covering most of the outside and a white stripe down one side that contains the power button, Bluetooth button, and 3.5mm input. The flat top offers a volume control that you can manipulate by gliding your... Read more...
Logitech has a long history of developing products for consumers, who traditionally have valued style and comfort, perhaps more so than corporate purchasers. Its business components are stylish, too, and are designed to match durability with comfort. To give us a feel for what Logitech can do for business users, the company sent us two of its headsets: We took the USB-powered Logitech H650e ($89.99) and the wireless H820e ($199.99) for a spin and have our thoughts posted here...  Logitech H650e and H820e Enterprise Headsets Review... Over the past few years, many companies have altered their approach to the enterprise. Where IT departments once made purchasing recommendations based entirely on their own view of the company’s requirements, many administrators now get (often unsolicited) input from employees who don’t want to get saddled with computers, tablets, or accessories that don’t fully meet their needs. Nowadays, it’s not uncommon for companies to let employees choose their work laptops or make suggestions. With so many employees influencing purchases, computer- and accessory makers have been quick... Read more...
Universal remotes were all the rage for some time, but these days, it's clear that the phones most of us already carry are fully equipped to handle remote duties. Logitech has announced the Harmony Ultimate Hub, an "appcessory" that fully converts your phone into a remote. And it'll soon be available as a standalone purchase. As you may know, the Harmony Hub is included with the Logitech Harmony Ultimate and Logitech Harmony Smart Control, but with the standalone unit, everyone in the house will be able to download the free Harmony Smartphone App, and turn their smartphone into a personal universal... Looking for something new from Logitech? How about something via one of the companies it just acquired? In what can only be seen as a sign that Kickstarter has major staying power, Logitech has just acquired a company that first saw the light of day via a crowdfunding mission. TT Design Labs is just a two-person operation, but they had good enough ideas to attract major attention from Logitech, one of the world's most notable peripheral makers. Derek Tarnow and Zahra Tashakorinia began developing TidyTilt less than two years ago, and they launched their eventual product on Kickstarter. The initial... Read more...
As rich as the Linux OS is, one of its sticking-points is that a lot of companies don't properly support their products for it. Your Logitech mouse might work just fine under the OS, of course, but it wouldn't be the company to thank; rather, the support comes from the efforts of developers who share the same passion for the OS as you do. My ASUS Xonar audio card works brilliantly under Linux, but ASUS had nothing to do with it. But are things going to be soon changing? With Steam finally being offered to Linux gamers, it seems now more than ever the OS is starting to get the respect that it's... Read more...
Five years ago, gaming on a Mac was practically a joke. Very few titles were ever ported over prior to Apple's move to Intel chips, but it's clear that things have changed dramatically since Intel came into the picture. This week, Logitech announced that its new range of "G" accessories will support OS X. The new lineup, which includes six redesigned mice and keyboard favorites and two new headsets, will be available for you to own later this month. Now, Logitech Gaming Software (LGS) has been updated to support OS X. Now Mac gamers can enjoy the same great personalization and customized control... Read more...
Logitech has a new line of gaming mice, keyboards, and headsets called the G series, and the company says it poured “endless hours of rigorous research and development” into the devices. The mice include the G700s rechargeable gaming mouse ($99); G500s laser gaming mouse ($69.99); and the G400s ($59.99) and G100s ($39.99) optical gaming mice. Features of the mice include 20-million-click lifespans, multiple programmable controls, and a hydrophobic coating on the palm rest and dry-grip sides for... Read more...
Over the past few years, the consumer electronics industry has shifted in some fairly monumental ways. Desktop sales are eroding, tablet sales are growing, dumbphones are becoming ever more useless, and the peripheral market is expanding rapidly. When you're Logitech, shifting to avoid negative consequences seemingly means cutting staff. The company just announced plans to cut 140 positions, which amounts to around 5% of its non-manufacturing staff. It's all part of a grander scheme to streamline operations as it shifts away from dying businesses and embraces mobile. According to the company: "These... Read more...
Logitech announced a new webcam designed for business, the Logitech Webcam C930e, and like its predecessors (including the C920-C), it’s laden with high-end features to make videoconferencing a more efficient, less distracting, and nicer-looking affair. The C930e boasts a 90-degree field of view, which Logitech says allows viewers to see an entire whiteboard during a meeting. Further, the Carl Zeiss-certified lens is built to eliminate fish-eye distortion, which is a nice touch. To allow the camera to more smoothly zoom in and out and move around to focus on various people or presentation... Read more...
There's no shortage of peripherals for Mac users these days, and Logitech certainly has a history of producing a good amount of them. In addition, the Logitech Rechargeable... Read more...
That’s one more cut cord. Logitech announced its new Broadcaster Wi-Fi Webcam today, which it’s targeting at people who want to stream video live or need to place the Broadcaster in a location that a corded webcam can’t reach. The Broadcaster supports Ustream live streaming and can do some neat tricks with your MacBook and iMovie. The catch? Broadcaster is only compatible with Macs at the moment. The Broadcaster offers HD 720p video capture and has 3x digital zoom. It also supports digital pan & tilt. An external mic jack gives you the option to use your own if you don’t... Read more...
