Time will tell, but we might look back one day and talk about how Amazon reinvented tech support. How so? The company's Mayday button that connects Kindle Fire HDX owners to a live tech support agent 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. There were no shortage of concerns when Amazon first announced its Mayday feature, such as long wait times and the potential to abuse the service. However, it's been working surprisingly well. According to Amazon, three out of four Kindle Fire HDX customer questions now come via the Mayday button. And despite servicing the vast majority of customer... Read more...
Procrastination gets the better of us from time to time, and with Father's Day peeking around the corner -- this Sunday, June 15th, in case you forgot -- you may find yourself in a panic yelling, "Game over man, game over!" According to Amazon, the average response time when a customer tapped the Mayday button on Kindle Fire HDX was just 9 seconds on Christmas,... Read more...

Compared to stock Android, Fire OS is heavily skinned and tightly tied into Amazon's e-commerce ecosystem, so much in fact that you can hardly recognize it as being Android. Amazon has been able to do some neat things with Fire OS, and if you own a Kindle Fire HD or Kindle Fire HDX, you'll be able to do even more with the company's Fire OS 3.1 update. It's a free, over-the-air (OTA) update that will be delivered over the coming weeks, though if you don't feel like waiting, you can grab the download direct from Amazon... Read more...
