Intel’s upcoming fourth-generation Core-i7 CPUs (codenamed Haswell) promise to be game-changers, and we’ve reported on some of the specifications of its accompanying Z87 chipset, as well. Apparently, VR-Zone has gotten its hands on leaked details of the impending processor line, including the targeted launch date of April 2013. Renowned overclocker Andre Yang is no stranger to breaking clockspeed records, such as the time he pushed an AMD Bulldozer processor to 8.58GHz just four days after he already broke the record using the same chip. Now he's turned his attention to Intel's Ivy Bridge architecture, and with the help of an Asus Maximus V Extreme motherboard, Yang was able to push a Core i7 3770K to a record-setting 7,184.3MHz (7.184GHz)! So here it is, the mid-2012 refresh of Apple's trend setting MacBook Air line.  In all likelihood, the MacBook Air inspired Intel's Ultrabook specification, created so that Windows users would have access to the same overall experience on their platform of choice. Apple's mobile products tend to dominate the headlines, but lest anyone forget, the Cupertino company also still sells iMac all-in-one (AIO) desktop systems, and they're about to be refreshed. Reportedly, Apple's new iMacs will sport higher resolution displays and cross over Intel's Ivy Bridge platform. Does that mean we should start throwing around the 'R' word? System builders are looking for ways to differentiate their ultrabooks, and to that end, CyberPower is touting the customization options. Customers can pick from multiple options for several components when “building” the laptop at CyberPower’s website. Today at the Hot Chips Symposium, AMD's CTO Mark Papermaster is taking the wraps off AMD's upcoming CPU core, codenamed Steamroller. Steamroller is the third iteration of Sunnyvale's Bulldozer architecture and an extremely important part. Bulldozer, launched just over a year ago, was a major disappointment. The company's second-generation Bulldozer implementation, codenamed Piledriver, made a number of important changes and was incorporated into the Trinity APU family that debuted last spring.
