When Google announced their intentions to snap up ITA, many suspected that they would tap into their Google Maps universe in order to make searching for hotels a lot easier. Now, Google has introduced Hotel Finder, which is launching now not even as a Beta, but as an Experiment. Just punch in a location, dates, price and / or rating. Users can search specific areas of town for hotels based on price and rating, but with a maps view, this all happens far quicker than it has in the past. Whoops, don't start strumming yet. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Performance Designed Products (PDP) announced on Thursday a voluntary recall of the Rage Wireless Guitar controller for the Nintendo Wii. As the CPSC announcement says: Hazard: A circuit board defect can cause AA batteries used in the guitar to leak if the batteries are installed incorrectly, posing a risk of chemical burns to consumers. As we wrote earlier, Wilmington, N.C. was getting to be the victim, er, volunteer city in a full-on digital TV experiment.  What was the expectation?  Well, the hope was that it would be a smooth transition, especially since Wilimington has a lower percentage of residents who would be affected by the changeover.  But it sure as heck wasn't smooth, after the switch was thrown on Monday at 12 noon EDT.The test in Wilmington, where officials had made a concerted effort to get the word out about the switch, is a good indication that more education is needed. Italy has been showing BitTorrent no mercy lately. First, Italy shuts down the country's largest BitTorrent tracker site, Colombo-BT.org, a couple of weeks ago; and now it is trying to block country-wide access to The Pirate Bay--the Swedish-based BitTorrent site that claims to be "the world's largest BitTorrent tracker"--by ordering all Italian ISPs to block access to The Pirate Bay. Watch out MP3, AAC, WMA, FLAC, and Ogg Vorbis--there's a new digital audio format about to be introduced and it's creators are setting their sites on it becoming the new "de facto standard" for digital audio.
