Say what you want about the new iPad's propensity to run a little bit warmer than previous generation models, iPad owners don't appear to be all hot and bothered over what some have dubbed 'heatgate." On the contrary, a new survey suggests that nearly every single iPad 3 owner is at least partially satisfied with their tablet, and more than 8 out of 10 owners are simply thrilled. To be fair, these statements are based on a rather small sample size of 200 new owners, which is how many people ChangeWave pinged about their 3rd generation iPad purchase. Nevertheless, the results are encouraging for... Read more...
Apple called its first iPad tablet "magical," as if owning one would turn flatulence into a flowery fragrance and unlock the mystery of double complete rainbows. Instead it entranced millions of people into buying one, even though it lacked basic amenities like expandable storage, built-in cameras, and Flash support (back when people still cared about Flash). This year Tim Cook took to the stage to introduce the world to Apple's "new iPad" -- not the iPad 2S, iPad 3, or iPad HD, just iPad -- with what Apple is billing as a "resolutionary" upgrade. One of Apple's big reveals is the Retina display....
In that way, it truly was magical. A year later, a feeble-looking Steve Jobs unveiled the iPad 2 with a "completely new design" and several upgraded parts, including a dual-core A5 processor and both front- and rear-facing cameras, which were... Overall iPad sales will shoot up to 55 million units by the end of 2012, according to an analyst with a crystal ball. The spike in sales will be driven by "significant" hardware upgrades that will find their way into the iPad 3, including a Retina display, 4G LTE radio, and Siri voice recognition, plus whatever other surprises Apple may have in store when it officially unveils its third-generation tablet device at a press event on March 7, 2012 (this Wednesday). The 55 million figure comes courtesy of an investor note picked up Apple Insider. Shaw Wu, an analyst with Sterne Agee, claims the iPad... Read more...
Apple iPad launch events are arguably less exciting these days now that Android has picked up its game with Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) and the emergence of low-cost tablets like the Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet, but if you've been itching for a new tablet to come out of Cupertino, it looks like you'll get some relief next month. John Packzkowski over at AllThingsD says Apple will launch the iPad 3 in March and not this month as some people thought. His sources tell him the launch will take place in the first week of March, with an event most likely to take place in San Francisco at the Yerba... Read more...
A Japanese blogger had previously reported Apple would hold an iPad 3 event in February, a prediction he made based on a source in the Asian supply chain and another in the U.S. Now he's saying the event will probably take place in March, a time frame that jibes with other reports around the Web. Let's have a look at some of them. For starters, Boy Genius Report got its hands on debug information from a source who claims to be in possession of an iPad 3 prototype. If the information is real, it appears the iPad 3 will sport a quad-core A6 processor, which would make it the fastest iOS device to... Read more...
You shouldn't take the latest iPad rumors with a grain of salt, you should take them with seven seas full of salt, and then some. The idea that Apple will release an iPad 3 and a supercharged iPad 4 both in the same year is beyond ludicrous -- either that, or this editor will eat a giant sized crow in nine months -- yet that's what news and rumor site DigiTimes is reporting. What's more likely is that the folks in Taiwan figured it's both fun and easy to mess with DigiTimes, and we can hardly blame them. According to DigiTimes, "industry sources" overseas indicate Apple will ship an iPad 3 with... Read more...
