T-Mobile may not have the widest coverage net of the major U.S. carriers, but boy, are they gaining mind share. And as it turns out, market share as well. After adding nearly 4.4 million subscribers in the most recent quarter, rivals such as AT&T are having to pay attention. They're also having to modify their offerings in order to remain competitive. Just weeks after AT&T introduced newer, more generous data plans for Mobile Share customers, the carrier is now making it cheaper and easier for those very customers to text overseas. Starting on Friday (2/28), all AT&T Mobile Share and... Read more...

AT&T has in recent months lowered its rates for small overseas broadband tiers, and now, it has worked out a deal with a global provider of Wi-Fi hotspots in order to give customers even more options when traveling...      Driving The Athlon MIcro-Star's MS-6167 AMD Based Motherboard       Finally, the playing field is begining to level out somewhat in the Processor/Motherboard arena. For many years competitors to Intel tried to compete in the "Value PC" market nipping at Intel's margins for what was then thought to be the mainstream PC. The high end space was always filled by product produced by the king of the technology hill, Intel. Many of these competitors... Read more...

By Dave "Davo" Altavilla 9/27/00   You probably have noticed...  Intel's latest motherboard chipset the i815E, has taken hold with virtually all of the major motherboard manufacturers as a major component in their mainstream and high end product offering.  Not long ago product offerings were a flood with boards based on the VIA Apollo Pro133A chipset.  However, now that Intel finally has their own PC133 ready product out the door, we knew it wouldn't be long before... Sono International's 1008S Newcomers to the PC Motherboard arena? Not really!   When Sono contacted me about reviewing their new Slot 1 Motherboard, I have to admit I was a little in the dark. At first I thought... Sono? Who? Then I received the eval unit. I was pleasantly surprised. This board seemed to be designed well. I also liked the fact that I got on board audio AND 4 PCI Slots. Sono has been in this business for over 9 years now. They are definitely not new to the scene. As you can see in the above shot, the layout is clean. and straight forward. One area of note was that the board... Read more...
