It appears HTC just tipped off a general release date for its upcoming Droid Incredible 4G LTE smartphone. Apparently giddy with excitement, the mobile phone maker took to Twitter and teased the fact that it's brewing up something special to be revealed in the first week of July. "Next week, we've some special fun headed your way. We hear it's going to be INCREDIBLE," @HTCUSA tweeted. HTC last month introduced the world to the Droid Incredible 4G LTE, which is rumored to be shipping to Verizon on July 5, 2012 (hey, that qualifies as "next week!"). It has a 4-inch Super LCD touchscreen, 1.2GHz dual-core... Read more...
Pat yourself on the back if you've been eyeballing Motorola's Droid 2 and managed to wait this long without upgrading your crusty old Razr (a respectable cell phone for its time). Your reward? Verizon has gone and snipped the price of the Droid 2, which now runs $150 with a 2-year contract (and after a $100 mail-in-rebate in the form of a debit card). Apparently the price cut is meant to make way for the GSM-enhanced Droid 2 Global, which will eventually replace the original Droid 2. The Global version adds a few new features to the mix, including remote wipe of the device and SD card should you... Read more...
Is this the showdown of the year? In the smartphone world, we would argue that it is. If you're looking for arguably the world's best 3G smartphones right now, you're likely considering two specific choices: Apple's iPhone 4 on AT&T, or HTC's DROID Incredible on Verizon Wireless. Both phones provide an excellent user experience, and both are as cutting edge as they come. Both they also offer very different and distinct experiences, with one coming by way of iOS 4 and the other Android 2.1 with HTC's Sense overlay. In other words, both of these devices are competing for the same crown, but each... Read more...

One has to wonder if Verizon Wireless is worried at all about giving consumers too many options. It may sound far-fetched at first, but there's a growing number of high-end Android smartphones on Verizon's network, and while we understand the need to build up the arsenal in order to coax people to coming over in favor of the iPhone 4, it may be getting to the point where there's too much product overlap and confusion. But if the DROID, DROID Eris, DROID Incredible, DROID X and forthcoming DROID 2 just don't have what you're looking for, Samsung has a new device headed over to join those guys. The... Read more...
