Google I/O is coming up in June, and there's no doubt that the company will use this to speak on their next-generation operating system. Android 4.0 is still rolling out to devices, so who knows how Android 5.0 is going to play into things. But according to reports, 5.0 won't even start hitting the earliest of devices until Q3 2012. That still gives quite a few months to get v4.0 to dozens upon dozens of Android devices that are still on v2.x. AT&T is the first US carrier to bring the latest version of Android to one of its smartphones via an update. An update to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is now available for the HTC Vivid smartphone. In addition to all of the new features you'll get with Ice Cream Sandwich, the update also comes with Beats by Dr. Dre Audio and an updated version of the HTC Sense experience. Samsung officially announced the availability of an upgrade for its Galaxy S II phones to Android 4.0, aka Ice Cream Sandwich. Initially, the upgrade will be made available in European countries including Poland, Hungary, and Sweden. Korea will also get the update right away. If you're wondering about the rest of us, Samsung says the update will "gradually roll out to other markets." Yet another Android device is unwrapping Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0). This time it's rolling out to Motorola Xoom tablet owners, and not just a select few who opted in to the Motorola Feedback Network. Now that Motorola has had a week to see how its tablet handles the upgraded OS, it's giving the OTA update its stamp of approval so anyone with a Xoom tablet can hop on the latest and greatest Google has to offer.
