In the first half of this year, Sprint users in Dallas, Atlanta, Houston and San Antonio will be the first to be able to enjoy Sprint's new 4G LTE network. The move from Sprint's current 4G network technology, WiMAX, to the faster (and seemingly more popular) LTE standard is part of Sprint's overall network strategy known as Network Vision. We already knew Sprint would be transitioning its 4G network from WiMAX to LTE, and now the wireless carrier has deployed its first LTE cluster. Earlier this year, Sprint launched its first multi-modal tower in Branchburg, New Jersey. Now, Sprint has also completed the rollout of its first cluster of sites in Kankakee, Illinois. As part of its Network Vision program, Sprint doubled its 2011 capital investment over 2010 to improve its wireless network.
