A few weeks back, we gave you our initial take on the retail-ready HTC Vive virtual reality kit. While we were able to explain the Vive’s specifications, setup, configuration, and give some opinions on the experience, at that point, we hadn’t had the kit long enough to form any solid, concrete opinions. We had experience with multiple versions of the Vive throughout its development cycle, but we thought playing with the retail version for only a few days wasn’t enough time to truly understand it, so we held off on making any final recommendations. We have, however, worked with the Vive for a number... Read more...

We were pleasantly surprised by HTC’s latest entry into the flagship Android smartphone market: the HTC 10. That smartphone packs a Snapdragon 820 processor, 5.2-inch QHD display, and a chiseled exterior design. Now the Taiwanese device maker is turning its attention to the mid-range market with the new HTC One S9. The One S9 won’t blow your socks off with jaw-dropping specs given its place in HTC’s smartphone lineup, so you’ll find a 64-bit MediaTek Helio X10 SoC powering the device, which is paired with just 2GB of RAM. While the HTC 10 features 32GB of onboard storage, the One S9 features just... Read more...

HTC unveiled its latest flagship smartphone to world early this morning, the HTC 10. If you missed our original coverage of the announcement, we’ve got it posted up for you right here. Earlier this evening, however, we were able to spend some time with HTC at an event in New York City and got some hands on time with the new phone. HTC didn’t have a really tight lid on its new “10” flagship leading up to its launch, as images of the final production device leaked last month. And just yesterday, a full promotional video for the HTC 10 found its way onto the web to once again spoil the fun. But today, HTC is finally having its day in the spotlight and its new flagship is clearly a shift forward for the company, even if its design is more evolutionary than revolutionary. As we mentioned yesterday, the HTC 10 has a chiseled aluminum unibody chassis and chamfered edges. The 5.2-inch QHD Super LCD 5 is covered in Gorilla Glass... Read more...
When it comes to 2016’s flagship Android smartphones, we’ve already seen what Samsung and LG have to offer in the form of the Galaxy S7/S7 Edge and G5 respectively. But what about the folks at HTC? Well, thanks to a leaked promotional video, we’re getting an excellent look at the new “10” smartphone from all angles. The promo video takes some cues from 2001: A Space Odyssey before showing the HTC 10 being carved from a solid block of aluminum. The finished product is handsome, chiseled device with polished, chamfered edges and a slight camera bump on the rear. The design language is still unmistakably... Read more...

Some of us here at HotHardware have witnessed everything from the introduction of the Nintendo Virtual Boy to Virtuality pod-laden movie theaters first hand, and can say with certainty that the latest wave of VR technology is head and shoulders... While the other major vendors showed off their latest smartphone wares at Mobile World Congress last month, HTC decided to keep a low profile, instead preferring to keep the focus on its Vive VR kit (a move that's hard to disagree with). Little did we know, the company had a surprise in store for the near-future, and that near-future is almost upon us. Mark your calendars: HTC is getting "obsessed" on April 12 with the "power of 10". The company announced this reveal date on Twitter, and tells us all to tune into HTC.com on April 12 to take it all in. And of course, not only press invited, but... Read more...
