The U.S. Air Force (USAF) is giving new meaning to the term photobomb. We’ve talk about the much-loathed “selfie” quite a bit here on HotHardware. After all, we can’t get away from the term given that smartphone manufacturers have made it a point to cater to the market with higher-quality front-facing cameras complete with their own LED flashes. However, one Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) militant has found out the hard way that posting selfies on social media is a quick way to find ridicule — or in this case, an untimely death. The eager terrorist took a selfie while standing in front... Read more...
One of the greatest problems standing between companies like AMD and widespread adoption of the GPU as a mainstream accelerator is that it's extremely difficult to effectively leverage the GPU. Even after years of development poured into CUDA, OpenCL, and yes, HSA, the barriers between CPU and GPU have remained substantial. The reason why is simple, at a high level. The CPU was always designed as the Central Processing Unit. As years past, and more and more applications that were previously handled by specialized accelerators moved to the CPU, there was less and less need to treat any other processor... Read more...

Its a pretty safe bet to say almost everyone knows Windows Vista is out, so then what is NVIDIA's excuse? NVIDIA, a graphics processing giant, has yet to release WHQL certified drivers for its GeForce 8 series of cards. I find this somewhat ironic since the GeForce 8 series was marketed heavily on the fact that it was the only GPU available that offered Direct-X 10 support. Windows Vista was not sprung on an unsuspecting NVIDIA last weekend. NVIDIA has known for a great while that WHQL Vista driver support is expected of them. They also know damn well that their...
