It's certainly the week for notebook launches, and the week couldn't end with Gateway getting in a couple of their own. The company's kicking things off with a super sleek new ID Series, which may just be one of the nicest looking 14" machines we've seen in awhile. Actually, the Gateway ID Series will be available in two sizes: the Gateway ID49 has a 14-inch HD Ultrabright LED-backlit display and weighs 5.07 pounds, while the Gateway ID59 has a 15.6-inch HD Ultrabright LED-backlit display and weighs 5.5 pounds. It's also boasting an aluminium alloy lid and measures only a slim 1-inch thin, and... Read more...
Calling it the "iMac effect" just feels wrong, but there's no question that Gateway got their inspiration for this one from…well, somewhere. Regardless, the company's two newest all-in-one PC families are both sleek and beautiful, with one of them even being potent enough to be called powerful. These are being introduced at a time when some people are already thinking about back-to-school computers, and with options for Core i3/i5 CPUs as well as a Blu-ray drive, they could also double as a bedroom home entertainment center. The new ZX Series starts with the ZX4300 line, which has a 2.7GHz... Read more...
Gateway may not have the clout they once had, but don't you dare count them out. The company is rolling along in 2010 with more than a few significant announcements, and the new NV Series certainly hangs with the big boys in most every respect. The newly updated line reflects the changes that come with a new line of Intel CPUs, and we have to confess that the spec sheets look rather exciting. The NV line consists of two models: the 15.6" NV5 and 17.3" NV7. Both feature a high definition LCD widescreen, with the first having a Core i3 CPU, integrated webcam, 1366x768 panel and starting price of... Read more...
Gateway may not be the giant that Dell is anymore, but they're still hanging around and producing quality machines for a smaller crowd. The company has just announced an expansion for their EC Series, with the new EC14D boasting something that most 11.6" machines don't: an optical drive. The new EC14D01h (full model number) has an 11.6" widescreen display, an integrated DVD drive and a chassis that weighs 3.55lbs.The drive within is an 8x super-multi double-layer DVD drive, which is frankly something that we'd love to see on every netbook. Or at least more than we currently do. Finding an integrated... Read more...
Gateway just took the wraps off a new line-up of gaming systems and multimedia-ready desktop systems.  The offering ranges from their FX gaming-targeted models, to the DX mini-tower, SX (small form factor), and ZX all-in-one series systems.  All models ship with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, which is a nice touch and will come in handy addressing the rather stout system memory build-outs that are configured with the systems.  The FX models are your standard gaming PC offering but with some all new, swank stylings.  Gateway offers two builds to customize for this machine, ranging... Last month, SquareTrade—a company in the business of selling extended warranties directly to consumers online, with what it claims are better prices and coverage plans than store-bought options—released a report on netbook and notebook failure rates. Much of the discussion the report generated focused on the company's estimated failure rates for three-year-old systems, as well as the significant disparity between vendors. In focusing on that admittedly juicy section of the data, however, some of SquareTrade's other conclusions and the practical impact they may have on your wallet went mostly unreported.... Whenever Microsoft decides to push out a new operating system, PC makers--like clockwork--push out all new systems in order to showcase new wares on a new OS. Take Gateway, for instance, who has just released three new machines that are based on none other than Win7. The trifecta includes an 11.6" machine, which Gateway insists is an "ultraportable" and not a netbook, along with two 15.6" machines for those looking for something more mainstream. The little guy is the EC14, which boasts an 11.6" LED-backlit display, a battery that can last between six and eight hours, a 1.3GHz Intel Pentium Dual... Read more...

We've known since late March that Verizon Wireless was thinking hard about offering subsidized netbooks that ran on its data network, and while it has been offering a single model for a few months now, this is probably the most attractive one yet to find its way into a carrier store.Gateway's LT2016u is the first Gateway of any kind to snake into a VZW store, and the built-in Verizon WWAN module probably has something to do with that. Starting this Sunday (10/04), EV-DO lovers looking for a new machine to bring along on the road can skate on into a VZW store to pick one up, but don't expect any... Read more...

This time, it's the company's first-ever 11.6" netbook, the LT3100. As netbooks continue to inch closer and closer to ultraportables, this 11.6" version weighs in at 3.14lbs. and arrives with an AMD Athlon CPU, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, a full-size keyboard and an Ultrabright high-def (1366x768) widescreen display.Specifically, you'll find an Athlon 64 L110 CPU, ATI's Radeon X1270 graphics, 2GB of DDR2 memory and up to 250GB of hard drive space. Gateway's on a roll, and we're in no position to stop them. Shortly after introducing a new pair of back-to-school desktops, the company has unveiled a new NV Series notebook. Said machine is described as "a workhorse entertainment notebook that pairs the latest notebook technologies and important one-touch buttons with excellent style at an affordable price," and with a starting tag of just $499.99, we'd say that's pretty accurate.Starting with a 15.6" LED display, a 1366x768 resolution and Dolby Sound Room technology, this machine features an HDMI output, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a one-touch MyBackup... A few months have gone by since we've seen any new machines from Gateway, but the company is following the crowd this month by introducing back-to-school PCs long before most kids are even thinking about the next term. The two new lines introduced today are the small form factor SX Series and the compact DX Series mini-tower line, both of which are designed with value in mind and are accompanied by a Gateway FHD monitor.Obviously, both of these were designed with space constraints in mind, and while they certainly aren't cut out for gaming, they should fit in cramped dorm rooms just fine while...
