Garmin-Asus already announced one major smartphone for the Mobile World Congress expo next week in Spain, but Windows Mobile 6.5.3 may not excite the masses. In order to fire up some interest from the other crowd, the company is also introducing another new nuvifone in the A50.The A50 differs slightly in design, but the biggest change is under the hood on the software front. Google's Android operating system is powering this phone, which should be a welcome change for those who weren't fond of Garmin-Asus' hand-crafted OS that resided on the original nuvifone that shipped on AT&T last year.... Mobile World Congress is a major cellphone trade show, and given the pervasiveness in smartphones these days, it's ramping up to be quite the extravaganza. The show begins next week, but many companies are already pushing out details on a number of their standout products. Garmin-Asus is a newcomer to the smartphone realm; to date, it only has one major phone on the market, and the nuvifone G60 didn't exactly have a great amount of success due to the long delays that forced it to ship well after the iPhone 3GS and a number of other excellent Android phones were already on the market. The joint... Read more...

Garmin-Asus, the partnership that many doubted would ever bear fruit, is finally gearing up to ship their first product. When it was originally announced back in 2008, the nüvifone was viewed as a serious iPhone competitor and a real top-notch product for the smartphone industry at large. Unfortunately for Garmin-Asus, a lot has changed over the past year, with Google's Android hitting the market, Samsung stepping up its Windows Mobile game and even LG making a serious play for market share. The other thing is that the nüvifone has remained unchanged since its announcement, giving existing smartphone... Read more...
