A study conducted by Hope Cummings of the University of Michigan and Elizabeth Vandewater of the University of Texas at Austin sampled a group of adolescents, both gamers and non-gamers, from around the U.S. to find out where they find the time to play games and what parts of their lives suffer as a result. They found that boys spent an average of 58 minutes playing games on weekdays and one hour and 37 minutes playing on weekend days. Sony took a gamble with using Blu-ray as the Playstation 3's primary format, and at the moment, it doesn't seem to be paying off. Research group Cymfony surveyed 18,000 posts on blogs, discussion forums, and review sites, and found that a large number of folks aren't to happy about the new format being force upon them. Nintendo's latest gaming machine made its debut today as gamers packed store lines just to get their hands on one. The Nintendo Wii has caught the interest of gamers thanks to it's innovative motion sensing controller, and affordable price(when compared to Sony's PS3 and Microsoft's XBox 360). Disney has announced that it's going to develop its own games for the Nintendo's Wii console gaming platform. Why not just license their characters to other developers? There's money in them there pixels, and Disney wants to mine it all. Disney CEO Robert Iger said last September that the company can earn more by developing its own games rather than licensing characters and content to other developers.
