Samsung last week announced its much anticipated Galaxy S4 smartphone at a press event in New York City, revealing two different processor options depending on the region. One of those is Qualcomm's quad-core Snapdragon 600 clocked at 1.9GHz, the same as found in the HTC One, but with a higher frequency. Even though it's a difference of just 200MHz, early benchmarks show the Galaxy S4 taking an impressive lead over the HTC One, along with other high-end devices. Kudos goes out to PrimateLabs for charting the benchmark results of the Galaxy S4, as conducted by Android Authority using the Geekbench... Read more...
Samsung figured out that having a quality product isn't always good enough to increase market share, and so it significantly ramped up its advertising budget in 2012, spending $401 million on billboards, TV ads, and the such. Some of them came at the expense of Apple. Samsung hasn't been shy in taking potshots at Apple, making fun of iPhone buyers who wait in long lines on launch day for a handset that's already technically inferior (in some ways) to the latest Android smartphones. Heck, Samsung even used the iOS Maps fiasco to make fun of Apple. With the upcoming launch of the Galaxy S IV, Apple's... Read more...
While the verdict remains out on which CPU will find itself inside of Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S4, a result posted to Browsermark's database today leads us to believe that it's going to become the market-leader - at least where raw CPU performance is concerned. The result references "GT-I9500", which is widely believed to be the internal codename for the S4. The phone scores an impressive 2710, with testing having been conducted using Google Chrome 25. By comparison, the iPhone 5 previously topped Browsermark's list with a score of 2416 (using Safari). Samsung's soon-to-be-previous-flagship... Read more...
Still to this day Samsung's sleek and sexy Galaxy S III is arguably the best smartphone on the market, depending on who you ask (iPhone 5 owners may disagree, though spec for spec, the Samsung's flagship phone has the edge). Is there anything better on the horizon? You better believe there is. Not only are several quad-core smartphones on tap for 2013, but eventually Samsung will introduce a successor. That may come as early as March 14, which is when Samsung is rumored to unveil its Galaxy S IV. If that's true, the timing means Samsung won't be showing off its next generation smartphone at the... Like many companies, Samsung is gearing up for CES 2013. There has been plenty of speculation as to when Samsung will officially unveil the follow up to its flagship Galaxy S III smartphone. Most rumors suggest Samsung will unveil the phone either at CES in January or at Mobile World Congress in February. Although details are relatively sparse, Samsung is trying to increase buzz surrounding the company's upcoming announcement(s) for CES with the release of a new video. Some people are speculating the video alludes to a new phone while others wonder if it could be a completely different product... Read more...
Some of us do it in the dark, others do it with the lights on. Heck, I've even done it in public, more than once. Yes, at some point or another, we all drop our smartphones (what did you think I was talking about?, and it's a little surprising it doesn't happen more often when you think about the number of times it gets handled in a normal day, let alone a busy one. If you're lucky, it will land face-side up, leaving just a few scuff marks on the chassis (provided it's not protected in a bulky case). But what if someone developed an unbreakable screen? Sounds too good to be true, yet it's what... Read more...
New rumors suggest Samsung may be planning to reveal the successor to its very popular Galaxy S III smartphone at CES in January. Referred to as the Galaxy S IV, the new smartphone is said to have a 5-inch full HD AMOLED display with a pixel density of 441 pixels-per-inch. This display could support a resolution of 1920 x 1080. Screen size is a definite focus among many Android smartphone manufacturers today. Given that Samsung's competition in the smartphone market such as HTC, Sony, and LG have announced and/or launched 5-inch full HD displays, it's not hard to believe Samsung is working on something... Android fans couldn't care any less about Apple's iPhone 5 launch, and luckily for them, there are other phones more to their liking on the horizon. One of them comes from none other than Samsung, which is reportedly going to unveil its Galaxy S IV device at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona in February. This information comes from The Korea Times, which claims it received confirmation from Samsung officials and local parts suppliers in the area. The timing makes sense, given that Galaxy S III devices are selling well -- over 20 million units sold in just over three months -- and should... Read more...
