Score a point for South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and their recently aired "Freemium Isn't Free" episode. Sometimes it takes a raunchy cartoon to drive the point home, and whether or that played a role in Apple's decision to remove the "free" label from freemium games like Clash of Clans or not (it probably didn't), the deed is done -- supposedly free games are no longer labeled as such in the App Store. To be clear, Apple didn't remove freemium titles like Candy Crush Soda Saga, which are still free to download and play (in a limited capacity), but instead of labeling them as "Free,"... Read more...
When you think of wireless service plans, you generally think of floating dollar signs. A solid mobile plan that includes a modicum of voice minutes, texts, and data is expensive no matter how you slice it, and some in the market are pushing hard to disrupt that model. FreedomPop, which has been around for a year and has offered freemium wireless data service, is launching a free--completely free--mobile service plan. As in, free. "Downloads for Plants vs. Zombies 2 have exceeded total downloads for Plants vs. Zombies, the original favorite from 2010. Our fans have... Read more...

By coincedence, I've been playing the game recently on the iPhone, including during a period when low-resolution graphics were mistakenly being loaded on the iPhone 4S. As a result, I've seen the game's graphics evolve twice--once when the iPhone issue was patched, and now again with Tegra 3 support. Non-Tegra - Left, NVIDIA Tegra 3 Optimized - Right Looking at the screenshots, I like what they've done with the place. Dark Meadow: The Pact takes... Read more...
