It’s almost as if mobile carriers are throwing money at people to switch carriers these days. The latest overtures are from Sprint, which is offering up to $650 in incentives for those who switch their numbers from a competitor with the Framily Switching Bonus. “For a limited time, new customers who bring their number to Sprint can receive up to $300 in credit for their current phone through Sprint Buyback and a Visa Prepaid Card worth up to $350 to cover switching fees”, reads the announcement. Sprint has killed off its Sprint One Up program just a few months after its debut. One Up offered users an annual upgrade program that included unlimited talk, text, and data for life for $65 per month, as well as the ability to upgrade their smartphones every 12 months instead of every two years. The deal was that customers would pay for their phones in installments over the course of 24 months, and after one year they could give back that phone and put the value towards another.
