Samsung, in collaboration with researchers from the University of Texas-Dallas, are developing mind control technology that will allow people with a variety of impairments to more easily interact with mobiles devices. The basic underlying technology at work is EEG-monitoring electrodes; a user wears a skull cap with a series of electrodes connected to it, and the whole package detects brain signals. Mind Technologies thinks big. It has declared it will bring "thought-controlled applications" to the Android market. It also plans to build an alternative to the strange-but-true Emotiv headset that allows thought to operate machines. Mind Technologies currently makes a trifecta of "thought-controlled" devices and applications for the PC all of which rely on Emotiv's electroencephalogram (EEG) headset.
