There's been some criticism over a letter Nikon started sending out recently to independent repair shops in the U.S. in which the camera maker announced that "it will no longer maker repair parts available for purchase by repair facilities that have not been authorized by Nikon Inc. to perform camera repairs," a policy that goes into effect around the middle of July. Sony added the DSC-TX55 Cyber-shot digital camera to its lineup. This camera is capable of capturing 12 megapixel-level still photos and Full HD video at the same time thanks to its 'Dual Rec' mode. The camera also captures 3D photos with a single lens, taking two images consecutively. According to Sony, the DSC-TX55's 'By Pixel Super Resolution' technology increases the camera's zoom range to a virtual 10x. According to Sony, the new NEX-C3 is the world’s smallest, lightest interchangeable lens camera with an APS-C sized sensor. Sony introduced the new α35 (SLT-A35) interchangeable lens camera. This camera builds on Sony's α33 and α55 models and features Sony’s Translucent Mirror Technology. The α35 also features Tele-zoom High Speed Shooting, a feature that magnifies a central portion of the image area while shooting at up to 7 fps. Pentax announced the new Optio RS1500 digital compact camera. What's unique about this camera is that it features a removable faceplate system with a screwless faceplate design and interchangeable lens ring snap that will hold custom skins of your design in place. Nikon revealed a handful of new COOLPIX digital cameras, including the all new COOLPIX P500 with a 36x zoom. Casio unveiled what it is calling "the world’s first Hybrid GPS enabled digital camera." The new EXILIM EX-H20G features Casio's Hybrid GPS technology, which combines GPS with autonomic positioning made possible by an internal motion sensor. Casio has been kicking out digital cameras like a boss, including a handful of new point-n-shoots just announced today. One of those is the new EXILIM EX-ZR10, a zoom-friendly camera Casio claims integrates high-speed shooting and high-speed image processing all rolled into one. Casio goes to great lengths trying to convince the HDR crowd this is the point-n-shoot for them.
