For the last several years, CNET has been coordinating the CES product awards at that big annual electronics show in Las Vegas (you may have heard it mentioned around here a few times), but that arrangement has abruptly ended. According to Boston.com, the Consumer Electronics Agency (CEA), which runs the show, will not be asking CNET back next year because it believes that CNET’s parent company, CBS Corp., interfered with this year’s award selection process. Apparently, CNET staffers wanted to give the coveted Best in Show award to Dish Network’s Hopper whole-home DVR with Sling... Read more...

Microsoft isn't the only party interested in acquiring Yahoo, and that shouldn't come as a surprise.  What might be surprising is that CNet has allegedly already starting discussing the possibilities of a takeover.“The talks, according to the Journal are an attempt to fend off Microsoft's offer, which was initially valued at $44.6 billion.“It isn't clear at this time if Yahoo is engaged in talks with CNet in order to raise their asking price from Microsoft or if they're generally interested in joining the CNet family.... Looking to pick up a new dual-core CPU? X-Mas time is approaching, and CNet has pitted the two heavy-weights against each other in just about everything from audio encoding, to gaming. "You may recall a few months back when AMD took out full-page newspaper ads to challenge Intel to a dual-core server duel. Intel declined to take up AMD on its offer, but the challenge got us thinking: what would the results of a dual-core desktop CPU fight look like? Many people equate Windows PCs with Intel Pentium processors (and soon will likely be doing the... Read more...
