Well, this explains a lot. The Boxee Box has been somewhat of a unicorn over the past months, with delay after delay sinking the hype that came with the product's initial launch. Back in June, it was reported that the Boxee Box was being delayed until November. Now, we think we know why. When we discussed the launch of Intel's Atom-based SoC CE4100, codenamed Sodaville, we remarked that the company's vision of "smart" televisions had yet to materialize—the same "Widget Channel" and Yahoo partnership that had marked the launch of Intel's CE3100 back in 2008 were still hanging around in 2009. The fusion of the Internet and television, once thought to be as natural as peanut butter and chocolate, has proven to be a tricky problem for would-be content producers.
