AMD has released the latest set of Catalyst drivers for ATI Radeon based graphics cards, bringing the version number up to 8.2.  There are numerous bug fixes listed in the release notes as well as a couple of performance enhancements for current and previous-gen Radeons.  Here’s a snip from the release notes regarding performance... “The following performance improvements are noticed with Catalyst 8.2: Performance improvements with this release of Catalyst includes Company of Heroes DX10 frame rates increasing as much as 20% across all of the ATI Radeon™ HD 2x00 series of products... Just in time for the weekend, AMD has released a brand new set of Catalyst drivers.  The Catalyst 7.12 suite incorporates a number of performance tweaks and bug fixes for all flavors of Windows.  A quick glance at the release notes reveals the following interesting bits of information... ATI has released a new driver and Catalyst Control Center software package for all flavors of Windows XP and Vista.  There are a number of bug fixes incorporated into this release for both XP and Vista users and some performance tweaks as well. "Performance Improvements:  Half-Life 2: Episode 1 and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic performance improves on the ATI Radeon HD2900 XT Crossfire configurations. AMD has been diligently releasing an update to the ATI Catalyst drivers once every month but it seemed like they had missed the driver release for the month of May. However, it looks they got it out the door at the last possible moment because the new drivers are now available for download, dated May 31st. Catalyst 7.5 has two new features, DirectX 10 driver support for Radeon HD 2900 XT cards in Windows Vista and support for the second generation of ATI Theater 650 products. ExtremeTech is reporting that updating to the newest release (7.3) of the Catalyst drivers might cause your Vista system to experience the dreaded Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD). If you're not sure what a BSOD is, it's that blue screen with white text that crops up whenever a computer and Windows have a serious disagreement. AMD/ATI have just made the Catalyst v7.2 driver suite available for download, for both Vista and Windows XP. Lots of fixes and improvements for both platforms according to the release notes. November's version of the latest Catalyst drivers are out and about. Catalyst 6.11 brings some performance improvements with it, along with a few bug fixes, and CrossFire software support for any X1900 and X1950 product installed in a system using Windows XP or XP 64. Fudo over at The Inquirer reports that ATI has finally releases Catalyst 6.10 drivers for all ATI GPU's. Nestled within this driver are a number of performance fixes and additional functionality. For one, users can finally have official HDR with FSAA in Oblivion without being forced to use the "Chuck" patch. In addition, there are supposedly some healthy performance gains for Crossfire systems with framerate increases of up to 16% being reported. ATI has released their monthly Catalyst driver update to the Radeon line.  This brings the current version up to 6.9 and adds Crossfire support to Intel P965 motherboards that have two PCI-E X16 slots.  Unfortunately, this added feature is only available for D3D applications on X1900 cards under Windows XP only.  OpenGL support is slated for some time in the near future.  Hop over to ATI's website and grab your driver flavor for Windows XP, Windows XP Media Center, or Windows XP 64Bit.... ATI has released version 6.8 of their Catalyst Driver, and this release is one to get excited about. While many driver releases focus on fixing certain driver related problems in games and applications, Catalyst 6.8 contains some serious performance improvements. Doom 3, Quake 4, Riddick, and Prey will see performance gains with Catalyst 6.8, which is due to ATI's improvements with OpenGL.
