There is an interesting article posted tonight at NeoSeeker. They bill the article as a review of Powercolor's X1800GTO card, but they test a number of different CrossFire configurations in an attempt to see if there is a difference in performance when using a dongle or not, and when switching from an x8 / x8 to an x16 / x16 PCI Express Lane configuration. "Our Crossfire testing proves that two X1800 GTO's, even on an older dual 8x board will still provide good performance. Despite the gains that an X1800 Crossfire Master card setup present,... There is an interesting article posted at NeoSeeker tonight. They bill the article as a review of Powercolor's X1800GTO card, but the crew also tests performance in a number of different CrossFire configurations. According to their results, there doesn't seem to be a compelling reason to purchase an X1800 Master card to use alongside an 1800GTO. "Our Crossfire testing proves that two X1800 GTO's, even on an older dual 8x board will still provide good performance. Despite the gains that an X1800 Crossfire Master card setup present, that's... "If you need to quickly and easily connect a HDD or an optical device to your system, there is no need to open up the case or look for a bulky external chassis. Just get yourself one of those Brando cable adapter sets and you will be in full armor for all occasions. Let's take a closer look... Read more...
Fudo over at The Inquirer reports that ATI's upcoming flagship R600 GPU will be the company's first graphics card to support cable-less Crossfire with zero limitations. As you might remember from our review of the Radeon X1800 GTO, that GPU also touted cable-less Crossfire support. However, some limitations are present in that configurations whereas R600 will supposedly have full bandwidth between the cards. For many, the lack of needing a specific Master/Slave card is the last hurdle to be overcome before Crossfire can be considered a viable alternative to SLI so this feature... Read more...
Hardware Secrets has released their article on how to connect two PCs using a USB-USB cable. In a day where more and more people have routers to create their own home networks, this method of connecting two PCs is still fairly useful. "A very easy way to connect two PCs is using an USB-USB cable. Connecting two PCs with a cable like this you can transfer files from one PC to another, and even build a small network and share your Internet connection with a second PC. In this tutorial we will explain you how to connect two PCs using a cable like... Read more...
Hey folks! As most of you know, Valve has released the short, but sweet, Lost Cost level with HDR support. From the Steam update I read earlier, the added commentary seems to be a hit, so they'll most likely be adding it to other projects. It would be nice to see some design comments on their upcoming expansion, "Aftermath". Enjoy the news! eVga 7800GT SLI Review @ Gamepyre "Featuring Lifetime Warranties that actually last, a Step-Up program that's unique in the industry, 24-7 Toll-Free Technical Support, these are trademarks of a company that cares about its customers. Hey folks, it's hard to believe that the new year is upon us.  2004 has flown by in my opinion, with a lot of changes in my life occurring.  I hope 2005 will be a good one, with a few goals set, it could be.  I'm not big on the whole "resolution" thing, but there is that sense of a clean slate, starting fresh.  I have to say, I always get a bit of a chuckle this time of year when you suddenly start seeing more joggers than usual on the road.  I guess getting in shape is the most popular resolution out there.  Well, I'm running a little slow today, woke up... Well folks, once again I've been stuck in the house all day since the snow/sleet mix is still coming down. Oh well, more time to play Metroid I guess. Well I've run out of things to say now as I'm getting fairly tired... you'd think being in the house all day wouldn't wear you out... apparently not. On with the news! Sunbeam Tech Transformer Case Review @ BigBruin.Com "The Sunbeam Tech Transformer Case is quite appealing, and is something of a hybrid case. It has the enormous size, strength, and room for drives like a server, but has the edgy styling, lighting effects, and tool-less installation... Read more...
