Believe it or not, shoppers have already started camping out at some Best Buy stores in anticipation of Black Friday. If lining up a week early seems insane, well, that's because it is. Be that as it may, Rhiannon Buckingham found herself near the front of the line at a Best Buy store in El Cajon, California. "Last year, I came on Tuesday and I was 17th in line," she told Channel 10 News, a local ABC news affiliate. "They only had 15 TVs." Not all Best Buy locations take kindly to people camping out so far in advance of Black Friday, and in fact a property manager at the El Cajon location made... Read more...
For whatever reason, HTC and Nokia unveiled their respective Windows Phone 8 devices without disclosing any pricing information, making it unnecessarily difficult to speculate how well they'll sell amid a sea of Android and iOS smartphones. Thanks to electronics retailer Best Buy, now we know. Best Buy tossed up a couple of pre-order pages, one of which it has since pulled offline. The one that remains is for HTC's Windows Phone 8X (8GB) on AT&T's network. With a two-year contract, Best Buy will sell you the device for a Benjamin ($100). Off contract, the handset carries an MSRP of $600. Nokia... Read more...

Best Buy locations across the nation are now displaying Windows 8 demo units, allowing those who stop in to get comfortable with a tile-focused OS. Best Buy hasn't issued an official press release confirming the news, but reports are spreading far and wide that most locales have at... Read more...
With the iPhone 5 launch unofficially looming just around the corner (expect an announcement in September), Apple's stock price soared to new heights earlier this week, giving the company a market capitalization of more than $624 billion, besting a record previously held by Microsoft over 12 years ago (not accounting for inflation). Apparently the mere rumor of an upcoming Apple product release is enough to get investors frothing at the mouth, but is Apple really worth that much? Perhaps so. Apple's premium priced products are always in high demand at a time when everyone is tightening their belts,... Read more...
Best Buy's Geek Squad is once again making headlines for nefarious reasons. This time it's because a woman says she trusted a Geek Squad employee with transferring her contacts and photos from a cracked iPhone to a new iPhone 4S, which would have been fine except that the employee allegedly burned a CD of her photos, including suggestive ones, and then invited her to his house to retrieve it. The woman's name is Sophia Ellison and she claims she hired a Geek Squad employee at the Fair Oaks Best Buy in Fairfax, Virginia to transfer all of her personal info to a new device. She says the employee... Read more...
