AuthenTec makes products for “secure networking, content and data protection, access control, and strong fingerprint security on PCs and mobile devices” (so sayeth the company website), and soon all of that technology will be the property of Apple. A Reuters report stated that Apple will buy the company for $365 million, or $8.00 per share--a generous markup over yesterday’s closing price of $5.07 per share.
