Take a look at the red-head standing over there.  If you're a regular reader here at HotHardware, you know exactly who she is.  That's ATI's adventurous and oh-so-curvaceous front-woman, Ruby.  And she's holding that 'Perfect 10' sign for a very good reason.  It's probably not the reason you're thinking of, however.  For a digital personality, she's definitely pretty darn hot; maybe not a 10 in our book, but pretty darn close nonetheless.  No, she's holding that sign not as proclamation of her hotness, but rather to give you all a hint as to what ATI has in store for the PC in the coming days,... We trust you've been through the drill before.  It gets old after a while, frankly.  Major technology innovator OEM targets release date of next generation product and briefs the press months prior to the launch.  Embargo dates are set, NDA commitments made and confirmed by those partners who are "trusted" to maintain confidentiality.  Then weeks, sometimes months before the actual embargo date and time have elapsed, someone over in another time zone is able to break free with the full monty, leaving those of us law-abiding good-guys here in the states in the lurch.   There... Hello All. ATI is taking the wraps off yet another mid-range product offering today, the Radeon X1650 XT.  Like the X1950 Pro that was released a few weeks ago, the new Radeon X1650 Pro features a new GPU with native CrossFire support. Here's a snip from the article... "Today, ATI is adding yet another member to the Radeon X1K family of products, the Radeon X1650 XT. While its name suggests the X1650 XT is nothing more than a higher clocked variation on the barely 2-month old Radeon X1650 Pro, that's actually not the case.  The Radeon X1650 Pro is based on a new GPU, formerly code-named RV560,... About two weeks ago, ATI launched the Radeon X1950 Pro, a new mainstream graphics card with a host of new features. This graphics card was equipped with a single-slot cooler, a relatively low-power GPU that was manufactured on TSMC's 80nm fabrication process, and in a first for ATI, native CrossFire support.  Native CrossFire support meant there would be no more confusion over CrossFire Master and Slave cards, and the clunky external dongle previously associated with CrossFire was no longer a necessity. In our evaluation of the X1950 Pro, we praised ATI for producing a high-performance,... Read more...
This morning, ATI is launching the new Radeon X1950 Pro GPU which is based off of the highly anticipated 80u RV570 core. Beyond a handful of differences with the R580 architecture, the new Radeon X1950's most desirable new feature is native support for Crossfire. In short, this implies a sharp departure from the days of needing special "Master" cards and bulky dongles. In terms of performance, we've compiled a list of reviews to help illustrate how ATI's latest performance GPU fares against the competition. Hot Hardware PC Perspective Anandtech... Read more...
It's been only seven short weeks since ATI officially unveiled four additions to the X1K family of products, and here we are again with yet another new Radeon poised to shake-up the mid-range segment of the market. The new Radeon X1950 Pro is based on the GPU formerly codenamed RV570. but unlike the R580 variants used on the other members of the X1900 family which are built on TSMC's 90nm line, the RV570 is built on the company's 80nm node. The RV570 also has a different pixel shader / vertex shader configuration, and in perhaps the biggest departure from the R580, the RV570 has... Read more...

Although there has obviously been a lot going on behind the scenes at ATI these last few months, i.e. the proposed AMD merger, the company has remained relatively quiet.  The last major graphics card launch was for the Radeon X1900 family back in January.  And since then, the company has released only a couple of mid-range graphics cards that utilized existing GPU technology.  Today, however, ATI is announcing five new products targeting virtually every segment of the graphics market. At the high-end ATI is announcing the Radeon X1950 XTX and Radeon X1950 XTX CrossFire Edition... Read more...
