If you were a fan of the first-generation Moto Z Play, it appears that Lenovo/Motorola isn’t straying too far from that formula with its successor: the aptly named Moto Z2 Play. The original Moto Z Play wowed us with its epic battery life, which was attributed to its power-sipping Snapdragon 625 processor and its large 3510 mAh battery. According to leaked renders that are making the rounds on the internet, the Moto Z2 Play differs ever so slightly from its predecessor appearance wise. You’ll need a keen eye to spot the changes, which include a more oblong-shaped home button (which doubles as a... Read more...
Google has taken the low-cost PC market by storm with Chrome OS, which has allowed budget Chromebook devices to flood the market. While consumers have been snapping up the machines due to their attractive pricing, educational institutions have also embraced the devices for obvious reasons (including easy management). Lenovo was an early believer in Chromebooks and is fleshing out its lineup with the addition of the Flex 11 Chromebook. As its name implies, this Chromebook has an 11.6-inch IPS HD display with an added twist. It features a 360-degree hinge that allows the multi-touch display... Read more...

The budget smartphone category is not exactly overflowing with tantalizing options. There have been attempts to change that over the past year, especially among Chinese manufactures such as Huawei and Xiaomi, though now we can add Lenovo to the list. Utilizing the Motorola Mobility brand it acquired from Google for $2.91 billion three years ago, Lenovo announced a pair of sub-$300 smartphones with premium styling, the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus. Lenovo says the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus are both the result of what it learned from surveying 12,000 adults in nine different countries about what features... Read more...

When we see new convertibles announced these days, they’re usually running Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system. However, Lenovo is bucking that trend with its new Yoga A12 — a new convertible constructed of aluminum and magnesium running Google’s Android operating system. Lenovo is aiming the Yoga A12 at the “cost conscience buyer” that wants a thin and light frame, but doesn’t want to compromise on productivity. At the heart of the Yoga A12 is an Intel Atom x5 processor, which won’t win any performance contests, but should help hold the line when it comes to battery life (Lenovo says that... Read more...
Lenovo will likely have a major presence at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona later this month as it introduces several new mobile devices. One of them will be the Tab3 8 Plus (TB-8703), an 8-inch tablet that is not yet official but might as well be thanks to the latest leak. An Italian-language website got its virtual mitts on a handful of press renders and what looks to be a plausible spec sheet.Based on the leaked photos, the Tab3 8 Plus will ship in at least two color options, silver and blue. Buyers will be able to choose between a Wi-Fi only model (TB-8703F) or one that has both Wi-Fi and... Read more...
Google’s initial plans for Project Ara modular smartphone concept were ambitious, with the company hoping to allow consumers to swap out their displays, processor and even RAM. However, “refinements” made to the program over the course of its development led to prototypes that had all of those aforementioned components integrated into the base smartphone, greatly diminishing the usefulness of the modular concept. After years of development, Google finally pulled the plug on Project Area in early September. According to the folks at Motorola, Google’s decision to eventually abandon the endeavor... Read more...

If sharing is caring, then Amazon cares an awful lot about Lenovo, the Chinese electronics manufacturer that is building a version of Echo...with Amazon's blessing. Lenovo is calling its Echo clone Smart Assistant and like Echo it is powered by Amazon's Alexa digital assistant. That means users will be able to do all the same things they already can with Echo, but with a competing smart speaker that adds a bit of style to the Echo's cylindrical design. Obviously Lenovo and Amazon came to some kind of licensing agreement here, one that Amazon feels is worth the risk of cannibalizing sales of its... Read more...
