We're unsure as to how things are going to play out in the long-run due to the recently announced AMD/ATI merger, but in the short term ATI still has a few products in the works for the Intel platform.  One such product, the upcoming RD600 chipset, is under the microscope at TweakTown. They've got some information regarding performance and overclockability, but testing was done on a reference board and there are no comparison numbers for reference. The writer also states that SLI has been officially enabled on the 975X Express chipset which isn't true - at least not yet. "That... Read more...
Motherboards featuring AMD's new Socket AM2 are starting to pop up, and Hardware Zone has one from ECS on hand. Though ATI has made some steady improvements with their chipset, X-Bit labs finds Nvidia's nForce 590 SLI the more attractive solution at the moment, especially since boards using the chipset are currently available. "The contemporary chipset market has become very much different from what we remember. There are much fewer active players left, and those who are still there offer their solution without any real alternatives to consider. Take for instance, Athlon 64 platform. Thanks to the implementation... Read more...
