NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Debuts: ASUS and MSI

7 thumbs up

Futuremark 3DMark11
Synthetic DirectX Gaming

Futuremark 3DMark11

The latest version of Futuremark's synthetic 3D gaming benchmark, 3DMark11, is specifically bound to Windows Vista and 7-based systems because it uses the advanced visual technologies that are only available with DirectX 11, which isn't available on previous versions of Windows. 3DMark11 isn't simply a port of 3DMark Vantage to DirectX 11, though. With this latest version of the benchmark, Futuremark has incorporated four new graphics tests, a physics tests, and a new combined test. We tested the graphics cards here with 3DMark11's Extreme preset option, which uses a resolution of 1920x1080 with 4x anti-aliasing and 16x anisotropic filtering.

The Asus and MSI GeForce GTX 560 cards we tested we able to keep pace with the reference GeForce GTX 560 Ti and Radeon HD 6870 in 3DMark11. The Asus gTX 560 DirectCU was actually a hair faster than the Radeon HD 6870 here, but the MSI card finished right on par with the similarly priced Radeon.

Nice review. I can see these cards being useful for the overclocker/moderate gamer.

However, the Ti will always have a special place in all of our hearts for the cheap gamer.

Nice review.

I have the MSI GTX-560Ti now, and like it a lot. These new cards seem to be aimed squarely at the AMD Radeon HD6870 series cards, and as the write-up says, they out do them too.

I wouldn't sell my XFX Radeon 6870 Black Edition just to buy one of these. I'd have to move up much higher on the food chain to make the change worthwhile to me. But I would recommend them to someone looking for maximum performance on a budget gamers build.

You might want to think before bumping a post. I mean this is 7 months old...

Nice way to thank realneil though.
