HP's Pavilion ZE2000Z

0 thumbs up

Budget priced notebooks make a lot of sense for a multitude of people. The simple fact is, we all don't need to game. And not all of us need the most powerful computer on the planet. Plus, parting with a handful of greenbacks isn't the easiest thing to do when there are bills to be paid. So, it's no wonder that budget notebooks from Dell and Compaq / HP continue to sell like hotcakes. While HP's ZE2000 turned out to be a good budget solution, with the 855GM and Pentium-M duo at its heart, the new ZE2000Z we'll be looking at here brings an AMD processor and ATI chipset with IGP to the table...

Measuring in at 13.2" x 10.8" x 1.2" ~ 1.6" and weighing in at about 6.5 pounds, the ZE2000Z is roughly the same size as the previously reviewed HP ZE2000, though according to the specs it is a tad smaller. As we have mentioned in the past, this notebook is still slightly wider and longer than the traditional notebook, which uses a 14.1" display. Its weight and overall size put it on the edge of the "highly mobile" spectrum, as even something like HP's NC6000 has a smaller profile. If you are constantly on the go, this probably will not be the notebook for you, but the ZE2000 works fine as the occasional traveler's companion.
