Devil's Canyon: Intel Core i7-4790K OC'ing and Review

Overclocking Devil's Canyon (Cont.)

We did some benchmarking while we had our CPU overclocked to see what kind of performance gains came with the increased frequencies. Remember, the Core i7-4790K has a base clock of 4GHz, a boost clock of 4.4GHz, and we pushed our sample to 4.8GHz while overclocking.

We saw a healthy performance improvement in Cinebench’s multi-threaded benchmark, which will take advantage of all of the CPU horsepower you throw at it. In the Crysis CPU benchmark, however, which is also affected by memory speeds and other factors, the performance gain was more modest, but still present.
