iBUYPOWER Launches Chimera Killer Special Edition Gaming PC

New gaming rigs are designed to provide online PC gamers with an edge over their competition

El Monte, CA – August 6, 2009 – iBUYPOWER, leading innovator in gaming PCs, is excited to announce two new Chimera Killer Special Edition Gaming PCs, optimized for online gaming. Built in iBUYPOWER’s signature Chimera “Inferno” case, the Killer Edition Systems feature the innovative Killer Xeno Pro gaming network card, and the latest gaming technology to create a system truly optimized for the best multiplayer online gaming experience and maximum gaming edge in games such as the popular World of Warcraft and Call of Duty.

“Bigfoot Networks’ prime objective is to provide smooth, lag-free gameplay, and the Killer Xeno Pro gaming network card underscores this mission. Our teaming with iBUYPOWER to power their iBUYPOWER Chimera Gaming System with Killer Xeno Pro benefits gamers, empowering them to maximize frame rates and accelerate game action,” said Michael Howse, President and CEO, Bigfoot Networks. “The Bigfoot-iBUYPOWER combination optimizes the online gaming experience for gamers, giving them accelerated voice chat and reduced lag, which are gamer ‘musts,’ within a powerful gaming computing system.”

The Bigfoot Killer Xeno Pro improves online gameplay by offloading several key processes from the CPU to the NPU, allowing the CPU to focus on other tasks and boosting overall gaming performance. These include shifting voice chat to the Killer Xeno’s dedicated audio chip and transferring network processing to the Killer Xeno to boost average frame rates. The Bigfoot Killer Xeno offers online gamers hardware accelerated voice chat; smoother gameplay; game network acceleration; and Bigfoot Networks’ Bandwidth Control, and Killer Firewall.

The Bigfoot Killer Xeno Pro, combined with the latest in graphics and processing hardware in the advanced Chimera “Inferno” Chassis, makes the Chimera Killer Edition Gaming PC one of the most advanced and sophisticated tools available to PC gamers to date.

The Chimera Killer Edition Systems are available with both Intel and AMD configurations for $1.899 and $1,499 MSRP respectively at www.iBUYPOWER.com. iBUYPOWER systems come standard with 3 year limited warranty and lifetime technical support.

Wow the AMD system they have speced out is a total rip off. Hell the intel system has 2 gtx275, at least have 2 4890s in the amd rig to make things pretty much equal. As it is you can easily get all the parts for the AMD rig for under 700 bucks. Im sure the paint job is cool, and the fast NIC is nice, but really 2 4770s just aint even close to a single 4890. The gfx sub system is woefully underpowered.

Yeah that's goofy, but the AMD system is $400 cheaper because of that.  $400 can buy you 2 Radeon 4890s anyway, so then you'd have extra 4770s that you could sell or use in another system.  Thus I'd say the AMD system is the better deal.

But then it brings up the obvious: why not build the whole thing yourself?  These special gaming PCs are basically only special because of the case.  Like you said, that case is not worth the half-grand + that they are adding to the rest of the system cost.

im not a huge fan of the case design, plus the specifications aren't all that. if you compare the Killer Classic from www.GamingPC.net to this, there's absolutely no competition..
