Google Play Offers Pre-Register Option For Unreleased Apps And Games

We’ve all probably been there before — you read about an awesome new app that you are just dying to get your hands on. The problem arises when you find out that the app won’t be released for a few months (or longer), and there’s no exact release date in sight. And by the time that the developer does get around to releasing the title, you’ve likely by then forgotten all about it.

Luckily, Google has come up with a rather simple, but incredibly useful option that will be available to Google Play users. First noticed by Android Police, developers will allow you to “pre-register” for an app before it’s released and then receive a notification once it’s available for download.

It looks as though developers must take advantage of this option for it to be visible to Android users, and the first game to do so is Terminator Genesis: Revolution. Pre-registering doesn’t commit you to buying an app or game, and you can just as easily “Unregister” if you no longer wish to follow an app.

There will likely be plenty of apps taking advantage of the pre-register option as developers try to build hype for games and upcoming movie releases. “Terminator Genisys” is expected to be one of the biggest blockbusters of 2015 and we can definitely see apps tied to other 2015 releases like “Spectre” taking this same route.
