Acer doesn't do direct sales, and brought their market vision to their new acquisition. Gateway computers are still available at a large assortment of retail resellers like Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal-Mart, and Costco, and interestingly, you can still buy them from online retailers like Newegg and Tiger Direct. Just not from Gateway. It's a testament to how far Gateway's direct purchase model had slipped that the Press Release announcing it is dated July 25th, and we can't find one reference to it in a news article. |
Odd from a company that at 1 time could only be bought etail |

It won't be hard to find a Gateway.....I mean honestly if you add up all sales from the company I bet you that 5% or something actually came from online gateway.com sales.... As long as Acer doesn't introduce their loads of trialware, redundant software and other crap to Gateways I will not blow a gasket and continue to not have any troubles locating Gateway in BBY (for laptops). Bottom line? Big woop...very few ppl go through mfg's sites for ordering IMO as its more of a hasstle than anything else with confusing rates, forced add-ons and such. |
