Xoom Cases Spotted in Sprint Store Databases

While Verizon will later this quarter issue a free upgrade to current Motorola Xoom owners, giving them LTE 4G capability, Sprint looks to be close to an out-of-the-box 4G WiMax-equipped Xoom, according to a new report.

Aside from the Verizon version, the only other Motorola Xoom version to be launched to date has been a wi-fi only version. The 10.1-inch Xoom is still the first and only Honeycomb (Android 3.0) based tablet on the market, and has been called the first true iPad rival.

Reportedly, cases are already showing up in the computers of Sprint stores nationwide. The image of the case looks a lot like the Motorola Folio Case, but also seems to be priced about $5 higher ($44.95 vs. $39.95).

If cases are showing up, can the devices be far behind? That said, it would be interesting to see a second carrier version of the Xoom, but again on a CDMA network. A GSM version remains to be seen.
