Verizon Waives Voice and Text Fees for Customers Hit by Hurricane Sandy Through November 16th

Amidst the lingering damage caused by Hurricane Sandy, Verizon is throwing its customers in the most affected areas of New York and New Jersey a bone by waiving voice and text fees incurred between October 29th and November 16th.

Even better, customers don’t need to do anything to take advantage of the price break; Verizon will simply not be charging them. Users will still be responsible for their monthly access fees, however.

Areas where Verizon is extending the fee waivers include 10 counties in New York and 21 in New Jersey. Verizon has been engaging in other hurricane relief efforts, which include sending out Mobile Wireless Emergency Communications Center (WECC) trailers to ravaged areas, bolstering public safety agencies’ efforts with extra devices, offering free device charging at mobile locations and retail stores, suspending late fees for affected users, matching text-to-donate contributions sent to the American Red Cross (up to a million dollars), and ongoing efforts to fully restore service in affected areas.

Kudos to Verizon for pitching in to help hurricane victims recover in any way possible.

Soooo.... if you're a user in an area where your service was knocked out.... you won't be charged for calls and texts you can't possibly make. But, you will still be charged for the basic service you don't have.

What?
