Valve Launches Steam Music Player To Pipe Your Bumpin Beats While You Frag
Valve recently gave Steam, the company’s digital distribution platform, an overhaul consisting of an updated look and making it easier to search for games. But the company is not finished. Valve has launched the Steam Music Player so that users will be able to listen to music while they game within Steam itself.
Users wishing to use the new music player can simply direct Steam to the MP3s already on their computer and then browse their collection of music. For those who have a collection of Steam Soundtracks DLC, they will be able to find their music in the Steam Music Library upon installation of the base game. For those who like to listen to music as they frag their enemies, the Steam Music Player will be available within the Steam Overlay, making it easy to control the music playing without the user having to leave the game.
To celebrate the launch of Steam’s newest feature, the developer is offering Valve soundtracks DLC for free to those who own the games and documentary. Those who already own the Half-Life, Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One, Half-Life 2: Episode 2, Portal, and Portal 2 as well as the Free to Play documentary will have access to the soundtracks for free. IF you do not own any of these games, Valve also has a sale running
