VUDU HD Movie Streaming Coming To Sony's PlayStation 3

Sony always said that the PlayStation 3 did games, movies, Blu-ray, streaming, online matchups, and well, everything else. And now that's coming true. Sony's PS3 has grown into a multi-media powerhouse over the past year, gaining Netflix support (and then removing the need for a disc to be inserted), gaining Hulu Plus support and now, gaining VUDU HD support. That's more streaming media than the average working man / woman has time to even enjoy, but the more the merrier, right?

Sony's bringing VUDU's HD movie streams to the PS3, along with 5.1 surround sound, and the VUDU seen here will bring movies in 1080p glory. It's expected to launch on Nov. 23, bringing 4000 movies to the table, all of which can be accessed on-demand. Many of the new releases will also be made available the same day the DVD or Blu-ray is releases, with a bulk of the collection available for $2 per night as rentals.

Customers that have a free PlayStation Network account can download the VUDU application in the "Media" category on PlayStation Store and then access it under the "Video" icon on the XMB (XrossMediaBar) menu. And look, new VUDU customers receive a $5.99 credit, enabling them to watch their first HD movie on the service for free. Not bad!
