The new auto overlcock and disable of a core seems risky and partial to problems. Now we need to wait for AMD to release the K8L to give intel some competition. |

I don't think it's that risky, and the potential upside is pretty huge. There's no details as of yet, but if Intel can safely use say 20% of the unused core's power budget and crank the clock speed on the fully utilized core by 20%, performance should scale by that same 20% in ideal situations. |

I'm all for this. Why not? This is another more advanced for of clock gating based on workload, so if you want to just traditionally overclock, you can just load up the BIOS and do that. Otherwise, let the process run cooler and spin the fans down while you're not using it. |
