This Guy's Fully Functional Nikon DSLR Halloween Costume is Full of Awesome

I don't care what you're planning to dress up as for Halloween, Tyler Card has you beat. Who exactly is Tyler Card and why is his costume so epic that I can feel confident dismissing all others? He's a photography nerd who took some scraps of cardboard and built a working -- yes, WORKING -- Nikon DSLR camera costume, complete with a giant LCD screen!

It also has a built-in flash, shutter-release button, and is capable of wirelessly triggering his Alienbees strobes, he says. This is why I'm convinced Tyler's costume is better than yours, mine, and anything else I'm likely to see between now and October 31st.

His "Making of the Camera Costume" video (embedded above) doesn't go into quite as much detail as I'd like to see from a worklog, but how cool is it to see an LCD screen ripped from an old Dell notebook find new life as a giant DSLR display? Well done, Tyler.

Think you have him beat? Chime in and tell me what you plan to dress up as for Halloween.

Nice sighting! Now all I need is a time machine to make myself look older, scissors to cut most of my long hair off, and a ticket to Grand Rapids to attend that party.

Also what I'm going as... Don't know yet, but I certainly want to go as something that stands out and no one has really done before, if possible.

Well... I was interested in how he did the Dell LCD screen but I'm confused, why would he need to hook up his camera to the old laptop, and I've got to wonder how he worked up a connection from the LCD screen to the camera's on LCD screen. Unless he connected it to the computer and a program is acting like the camera... I am officially confused.

One thing I can say is that it's certainly neat but unless we know more about how it works, I'm not fully impressed. I was expecting the costume to be fully functional, as in all of the buttons controlling the camera; if he showed that in action then that'd be even cooler.

Ok I have to agree, this costume is EPIC, simply just AWESOME!!! I am in awe and want one!!!

My costume is me laying on an operating table having a laparotomy surgery, I think it tops his! Well not really cuz mine is real lol but seriously no Halloween for me this year. Maybe next year I can think of something to top him lol (doubt it!!)

Very cool and definitely nerdy... I dunno though I thought some of the costumes at Blizzcon were pretty epic.

It's cool and it actually works. I don't care how it works if it does. The Blizzcon winner's costume was pretty cool too.

That's super impressive.
