Striking Looks: Thermaltake Level 10 GT Snow Edition Lights Up The HH Test Lab

Designed by the folks at BMW for Thermaltake, the one gripe that stuck with the original Level 10 case, was that it was gorgeous and drool-worthy perhaps but be prepared to sell that kidney, with its MSRP weighing in at $850 (they're selling for only $699 now).

So Thermaltake set out to design a more affordable follow-on product and the Level 10 GT was born.  The Level 10 GT has similar design cues to Thermaltake's uber-expensive first generation chassis, but is built with a more traditional internal component housing and lower-cost materials.  The GT doesn't catch your eye like the original Level 10 but it certainly still calls attention to itself more than most full towers on the market.

Then again, Thermaltake's recently released white unicorn-like version of the Level 10 GT dubbed the "Snow Edition" just might turn a few more heads too.

Yeah, to people with more money than sense.

Yes, It's a very nice looking case. (I think so anyway) You know that old cliche',....~"where form meets function"~ this is that.

It's priced at $239.00 at MicroCenter, and I think that it's a fair price for something that is so well thought out. (and easy on the eye too)

It has enough advanced features within to please almost anyone who likes function.

Excellent job Dave! Loved your "short take" of this awesome case. A very striking and unique case that's sure to garner the attention it rightly deserves. Would love to have one of these, and feel the white version has more visual punch than the all black version.

Btw, for as many times as you said "Thermaltake Level 10 GT Snow Edition", you could work in NASCAR, or we could turn this video into a drinking game! lol

Keep up the great work!

This is indeed a very nice work of art :D, but still on the pricy side for me to pick up.

"Pricey but worth it" That may just be true :P

You guys should swap this in for the contest Wink lol

Oh Hell No!,.......the case that they're offering looks better to me, and the choice of colors is an outstanding way to tweak people's interest!

Dave, just leave the contest as it is,.....and just mail me this one without telling everyone else about it.  Smile

Great write up Dave! I have to be honest I like the all black version better which is weird because I love the white 600t. I really like the wireless side fan, makes everything look super clean. Same with the pre-wired hard drive cages. That is a great feature to have on a case if you are going for cable management.

On a side note did you guys see Cooler Master is claiming the new Storm Trooper is going to be "The Future of Full Towers", That is a pretty bold statement.

"Beautiful case, although I too prefer the black version. Nice review. But the White Storm Trooper title goes to the White NZXT Phantom , thats the first thing I thought of when I first saw it. "

the case kinda looks like a house. I might just build my first house to look like it. :)

haha llecompte, someone should really make a building look like this. It has the structure!

I would love having this storm trooper under my desk :) I think the comparison to the look is right on par. Thermaltake makes some great products and this is no exception.

Hope no one buying this case is a heavy smoker though lol then it might turn into a old fashioned beige box.

yep it is a truly functional and innovative chassis .It seems to be one of those that when you can see a video preview that Dave made one can appreciate the design a heck of a lot more .It is even quieter than previously thought .Just a preference I like the Level 10 in black. That NZXT Phantom chassis that's also being mentioned here is just one of those cases that appeal to me in any of the color options. Guess it just depends on my mood at the time.

@Optimus, the White NZXT Phantom WAS my favorite case before I saw this baby a while back, but I thought the exam same thing as you, that this was the Phantom's more attractive older sibling or cousin haha

The Level 10 GT not only has a better form factor, but also has the handle for better portability (although not easy)

and that side attachment for a pair of headphones that I thought was neat, and the Color Scheme looks absolutely amazing, as simple as it is

I think it would be safe to say that a contest giving away this case would have more contestants than the Labor Day Give away!

Hmm looking at the Storm Trooper, it might be possible to fit a pc in there!

BD burner up top at the black band; power, usb, audio, and reset switch in the chin: drive lights in the mouth: Zacate motherboard, hard drive, mounted inside. Not sure if psu would fit too, so maybe an external brick psu. Mesh grills in the eyes and along the sides for venting.

I should think so,.....they've already put one into a model car.

Pretty cool - pretty price tooSurprise

Man, looking at both colors, I'd say that I could use this to recreate the opening scene in Star Wars. With the black version being Darth Vader and the white version being Stormtroopers.

I mean just imagine if somebody actually did that.

I'm really liking the white way more. I like that white is available by a lot of companies now. I think it would stand out much more in a room full of black electronics. Mind you, this case is a beast and would surely stand out anyway!

I like the looks of the phantom more, but i think this case is a lot more functional when it comes to airflow and building/ upgrading your computer.

This isn't related to the post but is any one else unable to post a comment when they try to submit it on the the page linked at hot hardware's home page?

*edit* nvm just found inspectors post about the problem.

As far as computer chassis go, when it comes to being successful in the enthusiast DIY niche', manufacturers tend to focus on a few key design approaches that will help products stand out and ultimately sell. You can go the way of functionality and build quality, like Corsair did, for example with their Obsidian 700 and 800 series, though it may or may not get you noticed. However, take that approach and also couple it with visual design cues that really catch the eye and you end up with products like MainGear's SHIFT chassis (developed with Silverstone) and the Thermaltake Level 10.  Talk about "standout," the original Thermaltake Level 10 is easily one of the most recognizable and impressive high-end PC cases ever built. It's also one of the most expensive on the market as well.

This is a pretty cool case.

but, does it have Filters? >_<. I am surprised that filters are not mainstream in cases like these. I can't stand dust in my PC.
