Sony Teases SmartWatch 2.0

Mark our words, almost without a doubt, Sony will unveil a new SmartWatch next week at the Mobile Asia Expo 2013 event in Shanghai. Normally we wouldn't go out on a limb like that, but Sony's forced our hand, so to speak, with a barrage of not-so-subtle hints pointing to another SmartWatch product in the near future.

One need only look at the official Sony Xperia Twitter account to see reference after reference, including a post that reads, "Pocket watch / wristwatch / digital watch / LiveView / SmartWatch / ?" with hashtags #itstime and #MAE13 attached.

In yet another Twitter post, Sony posted a teaser shot accompanied by the words, "Tick-tock, tick-tock, tock-tock," and we're pretty sure the company isn't referring to Intel's processor roadmap strategy.

Yet another post contained an infographic with information provided by BI Intelligence claiming that a third of smartphone users want smart wrist wear. The aforementioned hashtags accompany the infographic, providing another strong indicator that Sony's taking another stab at the SmartWatch.

Sony's first attempt was an Android-powered watch that supported messaging, email, social media and more. What will SmartWatch 2.0 bring to the table? We'll soon find out.
