Skype Update Brings All-New Calling Experience To iPhone And iPad

Spending a lot of time not using the built-in Dialer on your iPhone? Then you may be interested to learn of the newest Skype update. Skype 4.6 has just been released for iPhone and iPad, which delivers an entirely fresh calling experience. There's also new one-to-one chats that appear in the correct order, an option to select your messages as 'Read' with less steps, and a smattering of new fixes and improvements. Skype for iPad version 4.6 supports iPad, iPad 2, iPad mini and the latest iPad with Retina Display, while Skype for iPhone version 4.6 supports iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 5, plus 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation iPod Touch. iOS 5.0 or later is required on all devices.

A Skype blog post, linked below, details the full list of changes. Have you tried it out? Impressed?

How do they plan to support the iPhone 3G on iOS 5? I thought it was stuck on 4.2.

Doesn't matter anymore. I started using Facetime to talk to family members and I'm comfortable with it now.

Skype was a PITA to use, so I quit using it.
