Skype For Mac v5.3 Brings Lion Support, HD Video Calling

Skype for Mac hasn't exactly done well with users. The overall user interface tweaks made to the software went over poorly with many, and they certainly went out of their way to make sure those complains were heard loud and clear.

Now, the company is looking to silence the criticism with an all-new release tailored for use with OS X Lion. Skype 5.3 for Mac was just unveiled this week, bringing with it support for the new Mac Lion and HD Video Calls. It has several bug fixes, thrown in, and is backwards compatible with Snow Leopard and Leopard.

With Skype 5.3 for Mac OS X, users can send and receive HD quality video when talking to friends and family. Users will need to use the Mac's built-in HD webcam or choose from a variety of webcams from our Skype Shop, such as the Logitech C910, to make video calls in crystal clear HD quality. To receive clear HD video calls on your Mac, users need a recommended upload/download speed of 1.5Mbps.

As with prior versions of Skype, this one is also free to download.
