Search for Those Turned to Crime by Video Games?

While it appears there certainly is an ad for this particular, er, subject, the question of how legitimate it is remains.

In one of the more unbelievable media twists to come in the aftermath of last week’s Byron Review, a national newspaper is offering readers 'hundreds of pounds' to confess that games pushed them into a life of crime.

An advert encouraging readers to ‘pitch’ their story to the newspaper has appeared on an 'online talent community’ – which promotes opportunities for aspiring actors and models to raise their profile.

The Byron Review piece discussed above is about a piece in the UK paper The Review that said that Tanya Byron wanted laws changed so that retailers faced a stiffer penalty if selling video games to underage patrons.  She has denied that assertion.

they just want violent games banned

It is amazing the lengths certain people will go to in order to force their self defined morality upon others. Why do people find it necessary to seek validation of their beliefs by requiring others to share them?

great words man. very existentialist (if you havent already read sartre)

i find that there needs to be limits on violent games but currently i see no problem. if a game is rated m you gotta be 18, or have a parent buy it...

After playing Grand Theft Auto 3, I decided to make my living stealing cars and running over pedestrians.

Is this what they want someone to say?  This paper sounds like rubbish to me.

that aint nothing compared to the life i turned to after playing resident evil 4

Doesn't compare to my urges to eat funky looking mushrooms to grow bigger, and to jump on peoples heads for coins to pop out after playing super mario.
I blame you super mario for my life of crime!

and what does pacman teach then

But if a kid says that he joined the Marines because of America's Army or Call o Duty.. everything is OK, Right?

it truely is amazing as to what people actually believe -- how could a person POSSIBLY play a game and think its real? Fact vs fiction...are we not taught the different before we even enter gradeschool?

Moreover if you are a person that truely plays GTA and goes and tries to kill people -- well Darwin's Law says you aren't long for his world my friend

Lol, idiots imposing their idiotic beleifs on others. The best things in life are always ruined by fools like this.

theres a edit button man

as long as violent games will be sold to people, that long this speculation that the games affect peoples' minds will remain

Looks like I will be selling my story!  I have been arrested multiple times for rolling barrels at people climbing stairs.
