Up until a few years ago, it was essentially unheard of for a major
fashion label to associate with a cellphone. After all, would you
really want your fall lineup partnered with one of those big, blocky
bag phones of the early 1990s? Nowadays, everything has changed. Phones
are fashion statements in an of themselves, so it's no surprise that
someone like Giorgio Armani would look to attach its high-end brand to
some of today's hottest touch phones.
Just this week, the Italian fashion house showcased an incredible 700
Euro (that's over $1000) handset that is aimed at "complementing the
designer's suits." Armani himself made a small appearance at the
reveal, helping to bolster appeal for the Windows Mobile-based phone.
We're led to believe that WinMo 6.5 will be onboard, enabling the phone
to tap into the Windows Marketplace, open Office files and support all
the latest upgrades from Microsoft
The sleek, slider-formed Samsung
phone boasts gold edges, a sultry
black finish, a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a tilting display.
At first glance, it sort of mimics HTC's Touch Pro2, but it's
definitely more elegant. As for specs? You'll find a 3.5" OLED display,
5MP camera, microSD slot, internal GPS, 8GB of storage and USB
connectivity. Heck, even Steve Ballmer was in town to show his support
for the luxurious phone.
But really, how many individuals are buying a $1000 Windows Mobile phone? You could try every phone OS on the planet for that.
