I reviewed this tab a while back - you can check it out here: http://hothardware.com/Reviews/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-Review/ |

While this may be decent for a slate in general, it is not the current one you might think you were getting. This si the old if not the oldest model Samsung tab. The one thing I learned about Tiger Direct in general a could years back is a very large amount of there item's are close out's and refurbs. While the do have some newer items as well almost anything you are getting a good deal on from tiger is usually one of these two types of items. So I would guess this is the tab you heard all the people complaining about quite loudly last fall when they went on sale, and people grabbed them only to realize they were about to be discontinued. They thought they were getting a deal when it was more of a close out sale because the retailers new they were gonna get stuck with them. This is the left overs of those most likely. While they may fill light duty duties somewhat well I would not touch them. The reason is the 8.9 and 10.1 are close to being released (probably no later than mid summer at the latest I would think (I am betting by next month personally). The new ones are much nicer from processor to display to camera and memory, and the cameras as well. I am not saying it is not a decent deal for a light load item, I am saying after the new ones are released these will be worth a dime on the dollar. Which is why there both throwing the listings everywhere, and why there doing it for fireside sale prices. Because they know they will be worth probably 99$ at best in a month or so is what I would bet. |

I like that more tabs are becoming available that are free from carrier contracts. Both contract and contract-free options have their purpose. For me, Wi-Fi is adequate and I'd rather not have another monthly fee to pay. |
