It's the next Galaxy Tab! That's right, the next Galaxy Tab
introduced today at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and unlike the
original, this one will use a 10.1" display. It's hard to say if Samsung
felt that a 10.1" panel was superior to the 7" one that they used in
the existing Tab, but either way, there's a bigger screen being used. It
shares the same 1280x800 screen resolution as the Motorola Xoom, and
honestly, it's pretty much the exact same tablet. Google's being careful
to not let tablet companies tweak the UI, so for now, a Honeycomb
tablet is a Honeycomb tablet, plain and simple.
The P7100 (aka Galaxy Tab 10.1) uses a dual-core 1GHz Tegra 2 processor
3.0, an 8MP rear camera, a 2MP front-facing camera,
full Flash support, DDR2 memory and a 6860mAh battery to handle the
load. It measures just 10.9mm thick, and will ship with 3G that supports
21Mbps HSPA+ signals. There's also Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, a dual-antenna
Wi-Fi setup, 3.5mm earphone jack, gyroscope, accelerometer, proximity
sensor and a digital compass. The company isn't revealing a price or
partner carriers, but hopefully that'll come soon.
